The House

About Kilbronogue House

Our home is a 150 year old farmhouse set amid the natural surroundings of West Cork that we have made into a luxurious, comfortable modern home where you can relax among our books and art, which we hope you enjoy.

We like space so we designed the house to be open and airy but the underfloor heating makes sure you are never cold - on sunny days the solar panels do all the work for you.

It has a 360 degree view across Carberry's 100 Isles, to Schull Harbour. Fastnet Light flashes through on a clear night and you witness the Wild Atlantic Way live each day.

10 minutes from swimming in Deereenatra, miles of botharins with hedgerows full of birds and wild flowers all year round.

“We had a wonderful week in this house, which was ideally suited for what we needed. The design and decor is as appears in the photos - interesting and quirky. It easily accommodated our party of 8, and had generous living, kitchen dining and bathroom spaces. The two main bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms are magnificent, there are also two twin bedrooms perfect for sleeping teens... despite the artistic touches to the house, it is wonderfully relaxed, homely and child-friendly! Its location is superb - on the headland between Ballydehob and Schull - both easily reached by car. There are magnificent walks down nearby laneways, with spectacular coastline scenery and lovely hidden coves and piers, especially Dreenatra. The gardens of the house itself are lovely - full of interesting trees, the spectacular wild flowers of west Cork, and a herb garden! Finally, we found our host Sinead to be superb to deal with - always responsive and helpful. A memorable house, and we would go back any time!”

The Long Room

This is our Family Room. It was originally the Hay Loft - so is very long and all the beams save the one closest to the window are the same age as the house! The wood-burning stove is perfect for wild days and quiet nights looking out across the fields and sea to Fasnet. We provide a never ending supply of wood there for you.

Books, games and musical instruments are here for your enjoyment.

The internet, wifi, screen and sonos speakers provide great viewing and listening pleasure. They are also set up for international working as we work from here when at home.

So sit back, relax and enjoy!

“We can't say enough good things about our stay in Kilbronogue House. We felt welcomed right from the beginning, with strawberries (amazing), local milk, cheese and bread, all provided by Sinead. The house was everything we hoped for, and more. We especially enjoyed tuning into Cow TV (a.k.a. the view from the Long Room window) and the amazing Long Room itself, which was just perfect for relaxing. If we hadn't been on holiday, we may well have spent all of our time there.

We loved Ballydehob and Skibbereen, both of which are nearby. Ballyrissode was a beautiful low-key beach, and we enjoyed wandering around Clonakilty (a bit further afield). Thank you Sinead for your kind and welcoming presence, and for helping us to have a great holiday”

The Garden

“Sinead is a wonderful host and the property is a perfect haven in a truly special location. There is lots of space for everyone to enjoy. My kids adored the house and gardens, cycling down to the pier and trying out nearby restaurants - amazing crepes, burgers. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. We enjoyed buying local fish and vegetables nearby for cosy suppers at home. There are wonderful restaurants and fun pubs close by for adults. I would highly recommend this airbnb for families. Very very special. Mfle Buiochas Sinead!”
